Do Your Research

Let’s start with an example. You may be currently working in the healthcare field, and looking to make a career change by becoming an RN. To do that, you’ll need to know the specific steps you need to take. To become an RN, you’ll need to obtain a Bachelor of Science in Nursing or BSN. There are limitless career opportunities in healthcare and only a fraction require working with patients. The healthcare industry offers opportunities such as Medical Billing and Coding, IT Data Analyst roles, Medical Sales / Business Development and Finance positions just to name a few. Before you decide, do some research on the options available to you.

Find a Mentor

If you’re ready to get a feel for what it’s like to transition to a new role, find a mentor. If you already work in a clinical environment, ask someone if you can shadow them for a few days. Be open to learning about what they do and how they advanced their career. Having a mentor to talk to about what you want to accomplish can help you move forward.

Develop Your Plan
